Perhaps one of the greatest quarterback who ever started for an NFL team, Jurgensen starred at Duke University before joining the Philadelphia Eagles in 1957. He was a backup to Norm Van Brocklin for four seasons, including 1960, when the Eagles won the league title. Sonny Jurgensen riddled enemy defenses with picture-perfect bullets for 18 seasons in the NFL, seven with Philadelphia and Washington for 11 more. He took over as Philadelphia's starter in 1961 and had a sensational year, passing for a record 3,723 yards and tying the NFL record with 32 touchdown passes. In 1967, Jurgensen broke his own record by passing for 3,747 yards and set NFL records for attempts (508) and completions (288). The five-time Pro Bowler he completed 2,433 of 4,262 passes for 32,224 yards and 255 touchdowns in his career. He also rushed for 493 yards and 15 touchdowns. One of the finest pure passers ever, Jurgensen won his third NFL passing title at the age of 40 in his final 1974 season. On the front crotch piece of this rookie era nylon durene white jersey is the "MacGregor" manufacturers tag with the jersey size "44" on it. To the left of that tag is the wash instructions tag. On the front, back and both sleeves is the player number "9" in green tackle twill. This is really an incredible example of an early Sonny Jurgensen jersey. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations. Accompanied by a LOA from MEARS graded A10.
