1952 Johnny Sain New York Yankees Game-Used Home Pinstripe Flannel Jersey
Johnny Sain was best known for teaming with lefthander Warren Spahn on the Boston Braves teams from 1946 to 1951. He was the runner-up for the National League's Most Valuable Player Award in the Braves' pennant-winning season of 1948, after leading the National League in wins, complete games and innings pitched. He later became further well-known as one of the top pitching coaches in the majors. The home flannel jersey has a white felt patch in the neck with "Sain" in navy blue chain stitch. On the left tail is the "Wilson" manufacturers label and size "42" and wash instructions tag. Below is the year "1952" in blue chain stitch. On the left breast is the "NY" logo and on back "11" with the logo and number in blue felt. On the left sleeve is the New York Yankees "50th Year 1903-1952" patch. The front of the jersey and the back numbers appear to be restored. The 50 year patch appears original. The jersey shows game-use and except for the front logo and back number restoration appears to have no alterations of any kind.
