Our Assessment: This is a Winchester Model 94 Carbine in .30-30 WCF that was made in 1941. The .30-30 is perhaps the most popular deer cartridge in America, and the 94 chambered for this classic round is nearly synonymous with "deer rifle". This rifle is in Good-Plus condition with 50% of its metal finish remaining, honest wear in the stocks and strong mechanics. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. This rifle could be back out in the field dropping deer for another lifetime. As a pre-64 example of the 94 Carbine in its condition, it would make a reliable shooter and you wouldn’t have to worry about scuffing it up. Please see our photos and good luck!

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth wood with a banded forearm, straight grip, straight comb, and a serrated steel buttplate. The wood shows scratches, scuffs, compressions, stubborn residue and other marks. There is some light bubbling on the left side of the buttstock and discoloration on the right. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/8" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate, which shows a mottled patina appearance with scattered light erosion. The stocks rate in about Good-Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion and for the age, the bore rates a 10 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 50% of its metal finish. There are scattered nicks, scuffs and scratches throughout the metal surfaces. The receiver shows a mottled patina throughout most of its surfaces, though most notable on the right, with light surface erosion present throughout. Thever and its plate also shows scattered oxidation and finish loss. Areas of faint frost can be seen throughout the barrel and magazine tube and the bands show finish loss on the sides. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good-Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a more thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
