1930s Western Electric Model 102 - D1 Telephone
Featured in this lot is a working 1930s Western Electric telephone with a wall mounted bell system. The Western Electric 102/202 series telephones were the first widely distributed phones which adopted the use of a single handset rather than a separate transmitter and receiver. Like the candlestick phone, the 102 and 202 contained only the switch hook and switch. The network and ringer were contained in a subset which was mounted on the wall. This telephone comes with an E1 handset with spitcup. Overall this telephone shows very good condition despite its vintage age. The phone and stand measure 8 1/2" L x 5" W x 5 1/4" H. The bell system box measures 5" L x 2 1/2" W x 6 1/4" H.
