This is a nicely restored example of a U.S. Army contract Colt Model 1911 Semi-automatic pistol that was manufactured in 1916. This pistol was one of a lot of 700 pistols shipped from Colt to the Hawaiian Ordnance Depot in Honolulu, Hawaiian Islands on Nov. 4, 1916. The pistol has a military blue finish with checkered walnut grips and is fitted with a two-tone magazine with lanyard loop floor plate. The right side of the slide is roll stamped: "MODEL OF 1911 U.S.ARMY in the high position that is typical of 1916 slides. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Colt 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block followed by "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." in two lines. The Rampant Colt trademark is roll-stamped on the left side of the slide behind the grip serrations and lacks the circle found on early production pistols. The right side of the receiver is roll-stamped with the serial number, "No134476", behind the slide stop hole. "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" is roll-stamped on the left side of the receiver ahead of the trigger guard bow. All of the markings have Roman (serifed) letters. The Ordnance inspector's round, "GHS", final inspection monogram is stamped above the magazine release button. An "H" provisional inspection mark is stamped on the rear of the slide above the firing pin hole and on the top of the receiver in front of the disconnector hole. "U" and "H" are stamped to the right of the disconnector hole. The barrel has a military blue finish; the top of the chamber is stamped with an "H" provisional inspection mark followed by a "P" proofmark. Both marks are stamped perpendicular to the axis of the bore.
