1915 dated Artillery Luger with stock and holster, in fine to near excellent condition showing "DWM" arsenal markings, fine tuning front and rear sight, serial #6852a. A notarized affidavit by James A. Wing, Major,U.S.A., Retired, states "In May 1945, the 5th Armored Division with 628 Tank Destroyer Battalion attached, was holding a position on the Elbe River". He states that his unit was holding while the Russian Army tookBerlin. He further states the 2nd Armored, located on his unit's right, maintained a compound where Germans were surrendering weapons of all types. He states that an old gentleman wearing a WWI overcoat gave him apistol that was issued to him in WWI, when he was an officer in the artillery. He mentions trading the pistol to a well known Montana collector at this date. The Luger retains 97-99% original bright blue finish, just some slight loss on the high point of the side plate and left front of muzzle from being carried in the holster. The grips are excellent; the trigger, safety, latch and small parts show most of their "straw"
