This is an example of a 1908 Military Contract, German Luger pistol as used by the imperial German forces prior to and during WWI. The top of the chamber area is dated 1913 and the right side of the barrel extension is marked with three "crown/script letter" proofs and one Imperial eagle proof. The top right side of the barrel has a single Imperial Eagle proof along with the serial number and bore diameter, 8,33, underneath, and matching serial number on the left side barrel extension. The partial serial number "42" is marked on most of the small components. The toggle link is marked "DWM" and the left side of the breechblock has a small Imperial eagle proof. It is marked "GELADEN" and "GESICHERT" on the extractor and safety area respectively, with a rust blue metal finish and straw color on the small components. The magazine is the standard WWI nickel-plated body with the wood base that is numbered to another gun, the back strap is not cut with a stock slot and it is fitted with checkered walnut grips. Hold open with exterior proof under sight frame rail. Complete with a brown leather flap holster, with takedown tool and nickel magazine with wooden base numbered to another gun. The inside of the flap is marked "15LR/1914" and "H/AWM/9/13" at the top on the front.

Very fine. The pistol retains 95% plus original blue finish with some wear on the muzzle, high edges and some thinning on the side plate. A touch of cold blue has been applied on the muzzle. There is some light spotting on the grip straps. Most of the original straw color remains on the small components. The grips are also very fine with a few minor dings, some moderate wear on the lower edges and very crisp checkering. The markings are highlighted in white and remain crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very good with some moderate wear on the bottom, some minor age cracking and tight stitching.
