18th century English Flintlock pistol of holster size signed “James Freeman, Londini” on barrel and “Freeman” on lock. The barrel shows “VP” and “Freeman” marks and is made in 3 stages measuring nearly 10” in lengthapprox 67 cal smooth bore. The lock plate is made of brass and shows a early banana type shape. The pistol is in its original Flintlock state retaining correct small parts. The butt cap shows a grotesque ordemonic face with some wear. There is an unusual pierced side plate in a fancy design. The stock is nicely carved and molded in early style and remains in good to very good condition with just normal aging and smallimperfections. A correct style ram rod with worm is included. We would date this pistol about 1720-1740’s. Est.;$6,000-$12,000.
