This gun appears to be a composite of unrelated parts brought together by an amateur gunsmith to create an unsophisticated weapon useful for self-defense or putting dinner on the table. Octagon to round barrel with a brass, bladed front sight. Early unsigned lock with faceted iron pan. Brass trigger guard with trefoil finial. Brass butt plate, wrist escutcheon, side plate, entry thimble, ramrod thimbles, and nose cap. Attractive figured maple stock. Replaced ramrod. CONDITION: barrel has a dark patina. Lock has a medium gray patina. It holds both full & half cock but could use some adjustment. Brass has a deep mustard patina. The trigger guard tang has a repair 3" up from the end. Stock has a 9" crack in the butt, a 3" in front of the lock plate, and some losses at the barrel channel. Fair bore. (01-24059/BF). $1,200-1,800.
