Ornately engraved Mexican bolo style machete presented to Albert Prince of Wales on his trip to Acapulco, Mexico while aboard the H.M.S. renown 9th of September, 1920. Measures 31” overall with a 26” blade swelling to 2 ½” at the widest point of blade. The grip is select cow horn in shape of eagle. One side it read; “God save the King” with nicely hand engraved lion (Symbol of England) and jaguar surrounded by florals and die stamped “Remember A.R. Del C Negrete, L.G. Murillo, Mexican West Coast” in engraved banners. Other side reads “Albert Prince of Wales” along with beautifully hand engraved Mexican snake and eagle, Mexican fighting snake with this style machete, and vaquero roping bull with floral borders. The condition is very good plus with slight normal aging only, Albert became king og England for less than 1 year and abdicated to marry divorced American Mrs. Simpson. A very historic artifact presented to one of the most interesting royals of the 20th century. Albert was the subject of controversy his entire life but will be remembered as a man who gave up a kingdom for the love of a woman.
