Savage Model 1899 lever action rifle, .32-40 caliber, Serial #110302. The rifle is in very good overall condition with a 26” round barrel with a silver knife blade front sight and two-leaf folding rear sight. The barrel retains a significant amount of its thinning blue finish with wear at the muzzle and some light surface erosion. The receiver shows original blue in the protected areas and at the rear of the tang, while the remainder is going to a grey patina. The rifle features the brass shell counter and shows old, toned case hardening on the lever, particularly on the protected portion of the assembly. A period Lyman tang sight has been added during the period of use. The smooth wood stocks are in good condition with mars and dents consistent with field use. The butt stock ends with a smooth, steel butt plate. The bore is good, the action is crisp and markings are sharp on this early Savage 1899, manufactured in 1911. Est.: $500-$1,000. (C+R).
