18CA-1 HORSEMANS PISTOLSFine French silver mounted flintlock horseman’s pistol signed “Le Lorain a Valence” circa about 1725-1750. Measures 20” overall with a 12 5/8” barrel of approximately .69 caliber smoothbore. Showshigh quality throughout with nicely engraved lock and good damascened barrel and hammer screw. Mask butt with geometric and figural trigger guard, ramrod pipes, and side plate, all show small French silver hallmarks.Nicely stocked in quality walnut with raised carving and molding. Original ramrod. Very good plus condition with minor staining and slight aging to the metal. All correct flintlock parts (Re-hammer, frizzen, screw,and top jaw), The stock is also very good to almost fine. Silver mounted French pistols of this size and quality are very uncommon.
