Embellished with nearly 200 Fine Illustrations of Scenes in the Life of the Great Soldier. "A New, Original and Authentic Record of the Life and Deeds of General Grant." This book contains a full history of his early life; his record as a student at the West Point Military academy; His gallantry in the Mexican war; His honorable career as a business man in St. Louis and Galena; His eminent services to his country in our great Civil War; His election to the presidency; among many more inclusions. This blue coloured clothbound stamped gold gilt hardcover is in fair condition, scuffing observed to cover edges. Cover has stamped gold gilt image of General Grant framed by a gold gilt laurel wreath. Front cover gold gilt is still bright, both front and rear covers are stamped. Spine is loose from boards. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and slight foxing. Measures 6"W x 8.5"L x 2.25"D, weight 3lb, 4oz.
