Offered in this lot is an 1884 George F. Cram map of Montana showing the Indian reservations and areas. The map is on paper that has been joined in the center. The state is bordered in red with light green borders for the Indian areas. On the other side of the map are maps of Idaho and Wyoming. George F. Cram (1842-1928), or George Franklin Cram, was an American mapmaker and businessman. In 1867, Cram and his uncle, Rufus Blanchard, began the company known by their names in Evanston, Illinois. Two years later, Cram became sole proprietor and the company was henceforth known as George F. Cram Co. Specializing in atlases, Cram was one of the first American companies to publish a world atlas. The paper is 22" X 13 1/2". There is minor damage to the edges of the map.
