1876 special order carbine, .45-75 caliber, half nickel finish, received in warehouse September 7th, 1883, shipped September 15th, 1883 to order #6178, serial #36504. Factory letter confirms carbine, half nickel,shipment dates. The barrel show traces of original blue drifting to patina with some light erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The barrel address is sharp, the frame shows 75-85% original nickel driftingon the edges and dust cover with some erosion and pitting starting in the darkened areas where the nickel has lifted. The stocks are of a select quality and show a slight burl grain and are good to very good with somedings, mars, scratches, normal aging. The buttplate shows 10-20% drifting nickel. The saddle ring is missing. The carbine band shows a stud for sling mount and possibly factory. The action is good, the bore is very good. Any special order carbine is scarce, but especially in the 76 series. Est: $4,000 - $8,000
