1876 Winchester rifle, .45-60 caliber, 24” octagon barrel, full magazine, rifle butt, serial #8600. Early second model. Screwed down rails for dust cover. The rifle remains in good as-found out of the attic condition with traces of original blue in protected areas, balance drifted to brownish grey. Some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting. Generally good metal surfaces, good legible barrel address. Express type folding rear sight. Front sight blade is an old hand-mad replacement, incorrect dovetail. The buttstock is in good condition with normal wear, a couple of small age-type cracks, minor dings. The forend shows losses at top front two-inches of forend. One large gouge on left side by frame that might be a bullet hit. Also a couple of other losses; forend fair to poor. Action good, bore fair to good and may clean. Original dust cover retained. A decent ’76 with a scarce barrel length as it is two-inches shorter than standard. Est: $1,500 - 3000
