For your consideration is this 1876 early edition of, "The Pioneers And Patriots of America - Daniel Boone" written by John S. C. Abbott and published by Dodd, Mead & Company in New York. This is a biography of Daniel Boone, a famous American frontiersman and explorer. From Boone's early years in Pennsylvania to his exploration and settlement of Kentucky, the book details his entire life. Boone is portrayed by Abbott as a fearless, resourceful pioneer who was crucial to the United Sates westward expansion. He discusses Boone's formative years as a hunter and trapper as well as his ultimate decision to travel west in search of uncharted territory for settlement. Boone's interactions with Native American tribes are also covered in the book, including his capture and adoption by the Shawnee tribe as well as his later work as a mediator and peacemaker between Native Americans and European settlers. Additionally, Abbott gives a thorough account of Boone's exploration of Kentucky and establishment of the town of Boonesborough. Assaults from Native American tribes and the harsh realities of life on the frontier are just a couple of the difficulties and hardships that Boone and his fellow explorers had to deal with. The book shows a red/brown cloth cover with black and gold gilt embossed images of a branch and leaves and a Native American man next to a tipi. The title is in black embossed lettering while the authors name is in gold gilt lettering. The spine features the title, the authors name and publishers in gold gilt lettering as well. The book shows good condition overall with some wear to the front and back cover but is still intact. The interior pages are in good condition as well with little foxing throughout. The book measures 7 5/16" L x 5 5/16" W x 1" D.
