1875 Remington, .44 caliber revolver, SN: 285 showing traces of original nickel and period ivory grips. Formerly gifted by Michael Wayne (John Wayne’s son and producer) to Tom Kane who was a Bat Jac employee and worked as a script writer for the Wayne Production Company. Sold by Auction Productions at lot 165, May 6, 2007 with dual signed certificate of authenticity by Robert Greene (Seller-Auct.) and Nina Kane executor of Tom Kane’s estate. Michael had taunted Tom withthe pistol for years alleging history of the pistol belonging to Poncho and Trinidad Villa also the fact it had been gifted to John Wayne by an alleged relative of Villa in early days. After a long friendship Michael Wayne finally gifted TomKane this pistol. The pistol remains in good condition with 30%-40% nickel, some pitting and erosion, light cleaning, and good barrel address. The grips are authentic to this pistol and show 100+ years of cracking and aging. The front sightis a period replacement. Note: We have been familiar with this pistol for more than 30 years and knew Michael Wayne, Tom Kane, and John Wayne as customers and in Michael’s case a friend. We sold the Michael Wayne estate.
