1866 Winchester saddle ring carbine, period engraved probably by L. D. Nimschke, original to-the-period full nickel finish, standard wood stocks, serial #127067. The barrel and magazine tube show 95-98% original nickeljust starting to tone slightly, with sharp barrel address, crisp edges. The frame shows 90-95% original to-the-period nickel finish, some slight losses on the underside near the edges and high points. The lever shows some peeling and loss of nickel, and some corrosion and pitting where the nickel peeled. There is also some minor pitting and peeling on the hammer and loading gate. The standard grade wood stocks show some dingsand dents, small losses, but at least very good+. The butt plate shows 60-70% original nickel. There is a 3-piece cleaning rod in the trap. The rear sight and barrel bands show most of their nickel finish. The action is tight, the bore is bright and shows little use. The engraving is very high quality and absolutely genuine to the 19th century. The left side of the frame shows a panel of a young buck surrounded by flowing
