1866 Winchester saddle-ring carbine, Henry marked barrel, .44 caliber rimfire, in good to very good condition showing traces of original blue finish. Saddle ring removed long ago, possibly during period of use.Serial #15906. The barrel and magazine tube show pleasing patina finish with traces of blue mixed in and good sharp barrel address. The edges are sharp the metal is crisp and shows just some minor beginning age. Thecarbine shows correct early carbine rear sight and band type front sight. With rear band showing a swivel and stud mounted in stock which are both old additions and the reason the saddle-ring was removed. The frame is good with some minor scratches, normal aging, and light cleaning long ago on frame and buttplate, now drifting back. The stocks show a repair in the forend and are lightly refinished and slightly undersized againstthe metal. The loading gate shows a trace of finish, action good, bore fair to good. With original cleaning rod. Early Henry marked carbines seldom encountered and this is a far better than average specimen. Est: $6,000 -
