1862-dated Enfield style .58 caliber musket with tower lock markings, three band variation, brass mounts, stock marked ‘Ward & Sons Makers Birm’. The breech shows J&S marking with small English proofs on leftside of barrel. The condition is good with traces of case hardening on the lock, a blue brown patina on the barrel, some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting. The stock shows some dings, mars, scratches and dents. Aperiod ramrod is retained. The bore shows just a trace of rifling and has been heavily shot. No other identifying marks. Many of these imported and used by both sides of the Civil War.
