1860 Artillery sabre by Ames with D.R. inspection and 1863 date; the hilt is marked “22”. The Ames marking is very light and not visible without magnification, otherwise blade is good; hilt shows a deep patina withvery good wire wrapped grip; scabbard shows very old re-paint black enamel over rust; shield shaped tag attached to hilt reads “797”; a good sword with great patina. From an old collection in Auburn, CA in the heartof the Gold Country. Est.: $700-$1,400.
