Offered in this lot we have a original railroad survey map showing sections of Montana, Idaho, and Washington originating from 1853. The map displays the western side of Montana to Washington showing the Mississippi river and Colombian river with the intention of finding a route for constructing a railroad from the Mississippi River to the pacific ocean. The map shows mountain ranges, rivers, lakes, and other landmarks mapped from the Explorations and surveys made by Isaac L Stevens under the direction of Jefferson Davis. The map shows a few forts but predates the founding of towns and cities in the area. This folding map shows thick paper with clean lines and good detail along with information in the bottom right hand corner. The map shows good condition overall with some wear indicative of age. Folded out the map measures 62" wide by 25 1/2" tall.
