For your consideration is this rare Belgian side by side double barrel pistol grip 10 gauge coach gun. As "coach gun" is a more modern term, the term "messenger's gun" was used in the 1860's when Wells Fargo & Co. assigned shotgun messengers to guard its stagecoach shipments in California. Prior to 1900, coach guns were manufactured by several U.S. makers as well a Belgian makers. On the barrels of this gun are several markings to indicate it is Belgian made and was made circa. 1853. Markings on top of the barrels may have been made by the original owner. The black powder gun features a set of exposed side hammers, a 13" double barrel, and a cross-hatched pistol grip. The gun's overall measurements are 21" long x 2" wide. The gun is in presentable condition; no FFL required.
