54" wide by 68" long, very thin quilt, 9 single strips measuring about 1" wide each, need reattachment, and 2 smaller red panels that have wear, some brown pieces have dye issues that need to be securely attached to the backing but are not loose, otherwise, this 150 year old quilt is in outstanding condition. It can easily be sewn by a regular sewer or quilter and will not need conservation services. The log cabin pattern has numerous fabrics that are mostly of calico, the red background and small floral sprig designs are blocks that connect the squares of the log cabin. The quilt has descended in one family from the Clinton, Connecticut area. This quilt is quite visual, was probably used as a "company quilt" bedcovering and was never intended for use as warmth. It has not been cleaned in many years, it probably does not need cleaning, has been stored, folded. The family history will be given to the purchaser. This quilt is an extremely colorful quilt and has many examples of old fabrics, circa 1850 to the ending of the Civil War.
