1849 Colt pocket model, .31 caliber percussion with cut down barrel to 2” in “Mormon avenger style” to be carried as a pocket or belly gun. The address on the top of the frame shows XXXX through the address and the serial number on the barrel has been removed and a C.S. with star stamped in that location. The butt shows stamped letters that are hard to read because of being used for tack hammer but appear to be T F and the rest illegible but 5 letters and probably a name. The revolver shows a deep brown patina finish with traces of blue and case hardening. The barrel was shortened long ago and bead sight replaced. The grips show traces of original varnish and fit well and are at least good. Some cylinder scene remaining. The remaining serial numbers are all matching and are 194637 with a 6 shot cylinder. It was a Confederate practice to X out the union names and addresses and markings. We cannot guarantee the marking on the frame or the butt but it has been in the Kennedy collection along while. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection. Est.: $500-$1,000.
