1849 Colt pocket model, .31 caliber percussion, 4” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips, two-line Hartford address, 6-shot cylinder, period inscribed backstrap “J. W. Davis”. The barrel shows 10-20% original blue with the balance a mottled patina, showing some erosion and pinprick pitting that is light. The cylinder shows 90% plus original cylinder scene, approx. 30-50% original blue. An index line between cylinder stops, some scratches, and some mottling and erosion similar to the barrel are present. The frame, hammer, and loading lever show 30-50% case hardening but is thinning and drifting to grey with some light beginning erosion, pinprick pitting, and some good areas of rainbow colors mixed in. The backstrap and trigger guard show 40-60% darkened original silver, the varnish wood grips are very good plus with 75-85% varnish. Some minor imperfections, normal use, and are at least very good. All matching visible serial numbers. Tight action, good interior, generally a crisp pocket model that has seen some exposure and probably kept in its holster which is included.
