16th to 17th century Italian jewel chest or valuables box with finely carved and inlayed bone into darkened or ebonized hardwood with curly maple lining. The box measures approx 6" in height by 10-3/4" in width and shows 4small feet or legs in a rounded design. The condition is very good with some natural cracking and aging. Some small losses around keyhole area otherwise inlay is 99% plus intact. The inlay is typical in Italiandesign with florals, urns and leaves. These boxes were made in Royal work- shops and are similar in the inlays found on firearms of the same period. Est.;$2,000-$4,000.
