WWII Nazi 'dou' Czech K98 Sniper Rifle with Scope
This is an example of an late WWII production K98 rifle, manufactured by Waffenwerke Bruenn, A.-G., Werk Bystrica, Czechoslovakia while under control by the Germans. The top of the receiver is marked with an "eagle/WaA480 / dou. / 44" and the left side wall is marked "Mod. 98". The left rear of the barrel is also marked with the Nazi firing proof and the serial number and on the top "FU / N dou" and two "eagle/480" proofs. The rifle has all stamped parts, a hooded front sight tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters and is mounted with a correct laminated stock and handguard with the correct "C" and Waffenamt proof on the bottom, with a cupped buttplate, slotted cleaning rod and leather sling. Complete with a leather receiver cover, canvas muzzle cover and a "cag" (Swarovski, d., Glasfabrik and Tyrolit-Schleifmittel-Werk, Wattens/Tirol) z41/1 scope with sun shields and "duv" code side mount, not installed on the rifle. There is a dovetail base on the left side of the barrel at the rear sight, however the scope mount doesn't fit the base. All visible numbers match.

Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 90% original finish with some thinning on the barrel, front band, and bolt handle, and wear on the bolt. There are a few minor dings on the receiver ring and scratches on he front band. The stock is also excellent with a few minor dents and dings. The sling is good with some moderate wear and age cracking. The scope is very good with clear optics. The leather receiver cover is fair with some heavy wear, period repairs and almost all of the stitching is tight. The action is excellent.
