Winchester model 42 410ga pump-action shotgun, 26” barrel, factory skeet choked, Simmons ventilated rib, showing upgraded deluxe checkered wood stocks with fancy patterns. Finely engraved and gold inlaid,signed by Max Bruehl on bottom of frame. Serial #161599. Max Bruehl was born in 1892 in Suhl, Germany and is very similar in his style to Arnold Griebel as they trained together in Suhl Germany and emigrated to the United States in the same era. Bruehl worked out of Chicago, and created many masterpieces for Abercrombie & Fitch and private collectors upon commission. His work is discussed in many books and articlesincluding Max Bruehl Master Engraver by Paul T. Haberly, May 1971, Shooting Times. The gun shows a heavy deep cut relief in oak leaves with center panel showing gold pheasant in flight. The right side is engraved similarlywith a panel of goose over pond. The frame is finished in French grey, the barrels are engraved in similar oak leaves as is the takedown collar. The barrel has been nicely refinished. The gun is masterfully stocked in
