Outstanding Japanese Type 44 Carbine
This is an exceptional example of a Japanese Type 44 Carbine that was manufactured at the Kokura Arsenal. The carbine has the distinctive folding bayonet. The barrel, receiver, bayonet, trigger guard and buttplate have a high quality, military blue finish. Small parts, including the trigger, floor plate latch, bolt release catch and rear sight components have a 'straw' finish. The bolt body is polished bright. The two-piece stock and handguard are mahogany. The top of the receiver is roll-stamped with the Imperial Chrysanthemum insignia and "Type 44" designation. The left side of the receiver is roll-stamped with the serial number, "02881" followed by the Kokura Arsenal symbols. Two small inspection symbols are stamped on the underside of the stock. The bolt handle and upper barrel band are stamped with the partial serial number "881".
BBL: 18 1/2 inch
Stock: mahogany
Gauge: 6.5 mm

Serial Number: 02881
Condition: Excellent plus. The carbine is in un-issued condition and retains 99% of the original military blue and straw finish. All of the markings are sharp. The bore is bright. The mahogany stock and forearm are also in excellent condition; wear is limited to some very minor storage marks. No wear on the bolt face, appears unfired. Mechanically excellent. This is an outstanding example of a Japanese Type 44 Carbine that would be very difficult to improve upon.
