This is an example of a "243" code K98 bolt action rifle manufactured by Mauser Werke. The top of the front receiver ring is marked "243 / 1940", the right side has three "eagle/28" proofs and the left side is marked with the Nazi firing proof and the serial number. The left side of the barrel is also marked with the firing proof and serial number and three "eagle/28" proof marks. The left side receiver wall is marked "Mod.98". All visible numbers match. The rifle has all the milled early parts, hooded front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters and is mounted with a laminated stock and matching forearm with a flat buttplate, two eagle proofs on the wrist and right rear, an additional "eagle/swastika/M" proof on the right rear and a "P" and the matching serial number on the bottom. Complete with a slotted cleaning rod, brown leather sling and a Carl Fickhorn bayonet with serrated a Bakelite handle, metal scabbard and leather frog. The back of the frog is stamped "cgn / 43".

Condition: Very good. The rifle retains 20% original finish mixed with smooth brown and gray patina. There is some light oxidation on the trigger guard and floor plate. The stock is very good with a few minor gouges on the buttstock and overall scattered minor dings and scratches. The sling is very good. The markings are crisp and clear (some highlighted in white). The bayonet, scabbard and frog are all very good. The action is excellent.
