This lot offers you an exceptional oil painting, created by the master painter, Leonard Lopp. The piece depicts Mount Kintla from the edge of Kintla lake. Mount Kintla is the largest peak in the Livingston mountain range, and the third highest peak in the entirety of Glacier National Park. The medium of the painting is oil on canvas, and shows gorgeous detail. The painting came from the personal collection of renowned Montana artist, Gerry Wentworth. Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. The original painting has two labels on the back which read; "An Original Oil Painting of Kinnerly Peak - Kintla Lake - Glacier Park". The piece is signed in he bottom left hand corner. The painting is in good condition, and believed to be mounted in its original frame. The painting does exhibit some browning. The frame measures 29" wide x 25" high.
