Japanese Wakizashi or medium size sword in traditional mounts. 15-1/4” hand-forged blade, shows a good temper and is in very good condition with a couple areas of light erosion, very good quality. The tang isunsigned and shows one hole and heavy rust. We would date it at the Koto period, at least 450 years old. The scabbard is in god condition and shows most of its lacquer, some slight losses at the edges, at least verygood overall with small inlays of birds. The mounts are high quality, well matched, and show a gold inlaid Fuji-Kashira and nice minuki with gold also. The tsuba is forge iron, somewhat plain. The kazuka knife ismissing. An untouched wakizashi of good quality, nice mounts. Est: $1,250 - $2,500
