Central European flintlock powder tester circa mid 17th century made to resemble pistol with removable lock, brass triggerguard, 13-1/2” overall. Metal surfaces show good quality workmanship and are ingood condition with some light to moderate scattered erosion and pinprick pitting, hand engraved numerals on wheel, hammer shows traces of decoration. Stock is good and shows two tear-drop escutcheons on lock screws.Stocking has a decidedly American look as does the mounts. Very possibly brought to colonial America and stocked in the colonies. The triggerguard is unusual with the front finial in a wavy or flame shape also that isnot European. From the Keith Coulter collection. Est: $1,250 - $2,500
