WR SN: LT36746 Cased, take-down bolt action sporting rifle chambered in .318 Accelerated Express, manufactured in London, England circa 1908. Features a blued refinish, 26" take-down barrel, raised bead top blade front sight with pivoting hood & flip-up glooming sight, raised express rear sight with fixed leaf marked for 100 yards, two folding leaves marked for 200 & 300 yards and two empty slots for additional folding leaves, modified standard length large ring mauser action with thumb cut, polished bolt with turned down handle & horn knob, scope clearance two-position safety, serrated trigger, internal box magazine with polished follower & detachable floorplate, multi-point hand checkered walnut forend with horn tip and prince of whale grip shoulder stock with horn grip cap, inlayed oval escutcheon, sling eye & red rubber recoil pad. LOP measures 13 1/8" to the end of the buttpad. The barrel is engraved "WESTLEY RICHARDS & Co LONDON." & "W.R. PATENT DETACHABLE BARREL 1983" and the receiver ring is marked "L.T.36746/ WESTLEY RICHARDS/ 318 ACCELERATED/ EXPRESS". Includes a vintage leather wrapped locking trunk case with San Francisco marked U.S. Customs stamp on the exterior of the lid. Also includes is a spare polished bolt with outward swept butter knife style handle. Rifle exhibits approximately 97% of its professionally applied blued refinish showing light scattered handling marks and a small amount of pin prick pitting on the receiver which appears to be under the finish. Action is very smooth, the bore shows good luster with worn rifling & what appears to be minor pitting throughout, markings are mostly present with some breaks and the wood stocks are good with no finish & are shrunken.
