US Springfield Armory 1903 30-06 Bolt Action Rifle
Included for you in this lot is a Model 1903 Springfield Bolt-Action Rifle, chambered for .30-06 Springfield, and manufactured at the tail end of World War 1 in 1918. The Model 1903, or simply M1903 was adopted as a United States Military service rifle on June 19, 1903, and saw service through WW1, and into WW2. It was still used as a standard issue rifle in World War 2 due to a shortage of the faster-firing, eight round M1 Garand. The M1903A4 remained in occasional service as a sniper rifle into the Vietnam War. As well, the U.S. Navy continued using stock of M1903A3's on board ships as an anti-mine rifle. All M1903's featured a 5 -round magazine, fed by stripper clip. This example has a bayonet lug, sling swivels, adjustable folding rear sight, paired with a blade front sight, 24" barrel, and a hand-polished finish. The rifle is marked on the receiver, in front of the bolt, reading; "U.S. - Springfield - Armory - Model 1903", and the barrel is marked "SA - 4 - 18" along with the flaming bomb insignia. The rifle shows very-good condition overall, with light-handling marks to the stock, a bright bore, with strong rifling, a tight action, and good finish on the polished bolt/receiver/trigger assembly. Serial Number: 969003. This rifle qualifies as a Curio & Relic Long Gun, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
