Sundog Collection - Original Drawing by D. Burdett
The lot features an original collection museum drawing of two beaded and quilled American Indian pipe bags by Dennis Burdett. The example shows two pipe bags and a beaded tassel or game ball in immense detail. This is likely the conceptual art used in a museum collection or the illustration for an early book on the American Indian of the Frontier. The piece is signed across the bottom by Dennis Burdett in graphite and is in very good condition. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and acquired by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery. The visible artwork measures 8 1/4" x 10 1/2"13 1/2" x 16 1/2."
