Sn: 436549 Rifle, breech block, (trapdoor) U.S. military issue Infantry rifle. U.S. Springfield, 1864 marked lock plate. 32" barrel. Buffington "R" rear sights. Two-cock lock action is tight. Block locks tight. Bore appears very good/bright, but dusty. Rifle was been totally refinished in the style of the GAR, VFW, or similar organizations. All the metal has been reblued, except the lock plate, and the breech block. Faint P, eagle proof on the barrel due to reblue. U.S. marked buttplate. Wood has been lightly sanded/refinished, with no visible markings. Correct ramrod in place. A newer leather sling is attached. A sharp looking rifle, as a refinished parade piece. NRA Condition-Excellent for refinished. Antique Firearm.
