This lot features a Midland projectile point, knapped of smoky agate, and originating from the transitional Paleo period - Between 10,900 BC - 8000 BC. The point was excavated from Alamosa County Colorado. The Midland point shows characteristics similar to an un-fluted Folsom point, though Midland points are found in archeological sites unassociated with Folsom points - Suggesting these points are of a completely different complex. The point does show a concave base, and a subtle nipple on the center of the base. The point is preserved in a presentation riker case, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity from Baker Authentication, who graded the point at a 9.5. The point is in good condition overall, showing a slight chip to one of the ears. The point measures 2 7/8" long, and 3/4" wide.
