Smith and Wesson K-22/40 Masterpiece revolver, .22 Long Rifle caliber, Serial #684429. The pistol is in nearly excellent overall condition with a 6” barrel featuring micro-click adjustable target sights. The pistol retains approximately 95% of its original blue finish with light wear at the muzzle and a faint drag line on the cylinder. The pistol has a five screw frame with vivid case color noted on the hammer and trigger. The medallion checkered wood grips are in very good to nearly fine condition with handling marks and small mars. The bore is very good, the action is crisp and markings are sharp on this desirable K-22 2nd model. The lot includes a Smith and Wesson factory letter confirming all features as described and indicating that the pistol was shipped to Von Lengerke & Antoine, 33 Wabash Ave., Chicago, IL on March 11, 1940. Theletter further states the pistol is rare, being one of the first revolvers to bear the K-22 Masterpiece name. From the estate of Larry Gaertner. Est.: $750-$1,500. (C+R)
