Smith and Wesson Hand Ejector Service Model of 1917, .45 ACP caliber, Serial #6872. The pistol is in excellent to nearly mint overall condition with a 5 ½” barrel. The pistol retains approximately 98% of its blue finishwith only light storage marks and a faint drag line noted. The pistol features a five screw frame with beautiful, vivid case colors on the hammer and trigger. The smooth wood grips are in very good condition showing only light handling marks and a lanyard ring on the base. The butt is marked, “US ARMY MODEL 1917”. The bore is very good, the action crisp and markings are sharp. The rear of the cylinder is stamped with an “S” forColonel Gilbert H. Stewart, Inspector. The pistol includes a Smith and Wesson factory letter confirming all features and indicating shipment to the U.S. Armory, Springfield, Massachusetts on February 2, 1918.
