Smith & Wesson 53-2 .22 Jet SN: 2K93098
'The .22 Centerfire Magnum' Scarce medium frame double action revolver chambered in .22 Remington Jet, manufactured circa 1972. The model 53 emerged with the popularity of the similar .224 Harvey Kay-Chuk wildcat cartridge, but suffered dismal commercial success due to issues with the Jet cartridge. Features a blued finish, pinned 8 3/8" barrel with serrated sighting rib, raised serrated ramp front sight with red insert, removed rear sight with installed Weaver 307 scope mount fitted with a Burris 4x E.E.R. scope, fluted six-shot cylinder with counterbored chambers, shrouded ejector rod, case hardened .500" serrated target trigger, case hardened .375" semi-target hammer with built in center fire/ rim fire selector switch, three screw square butt K target frame with ten groove grip straps, and smooth two-piece cocobolo target grips with silver Smith & Wesson medallions. Includes six factory .22 Long Rifle steel chamber inserts. Revolver retains approximately 95% of its original blued finish showing edge wear, a drag line on the cylinder and some light scattered rust in the serrations on the backstrap. Action is crisp with very good lock-up, the bore is pristine, and the wood grips are fine. Condition is near NRA Very Good++. ***Modern Firearm***
