This is a very rare and authentic fully beaded doll from renowned Sioux Native American Indian, Mary Standstall dating the 20th Century. This example shows all Indian tanned hide with sinew sewing, real human hair and all glass trade seed beads showing a traditional geometric pattern. The beadwork shows a chalk white background with stepped diamond patterns in medium blue, greasy yellow and greasy rose along with corn yellow, and medium green. This is the largest fully beaded doll we have ever offered for sale and is truly a rare example. The piece shows a fully beaded dress with fully beaded cape shoulder covering, beaded bag / purse, beaded high top moccasins. The piece also shows mineral dyes on the face with beaded features and real number one wampum dentalium shell and brass earing double fringe and bone choker necklace. Two other examples of Mary Standstall beaded dolls can been seen from the Dr. Kent Vickery (1942-2011) collection sold in Cowan’s 2013 Auction along with various examples in our past few sales. Provenance: From a collection in Big Sky, Montana from a Yellowstone Club estate. This is one of the finest Mary Standstall example offered for public sale. This doll measures 22.5”H by 13”W.
