Antique rolling block single shot military rifle chambered in 11.43x50Rmm, manufactured circa 1860’s – 1871. This is an interesting saddle ring carbine with a myriad of proofs including markings from Belgium, Greece and the United States. Features a 20 11/16" round tapered barrel with single band, blade front sight, flip-up “L” rear sight, concave breech block with knurled spur, screw retained firing pin & extractor, saddle ring & bar, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur, smooth walnut forend and straight grip shoulder stock with smooth metal carbine buttplate. Various markings: Upper tang – “REMINGTONS ILION N.Y. U.S.A./PAT MAY 3rd NOV 15th 1864 APRIL 17th 1866”. Left side of the receiver – [star]/”K”. Barrel band – [crown]. Barrel – “EL” momogram, [Perron], “E/LG/[star]” in an ovel, “AR” stamped twice, circled “G” stamped twice, [star]/”K”, [star]/”LL”, “10.6” and ”?34”. The barrel shows traces of thinned bluing with the majority of the surfaces turned to a murky grey patina with scattered pitting. The receiver is predominantly in-the-white with aging patina and some bright metal in the protected area on the left side. Action is sound & has a couple replaced screws, the bore is very good and the refinished wood stocks are near good with a couple hairline cracks extending from the upper tang & some shrinkage.
