Featured in this lot we have a pre-Columbian Mayan seated jade effigy figure. The figure originates from classic period of the Mayan culture dating from between 250 A.D. to 830 A.D.. The figure is made of rough jade and shows the carved image of a man sitting cross legged. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. The piece is in good condition for its age. It measures 3" tall by 2 1/4" wide by 1 3/4" deep.
