Original 19th century colored lithograph showing a British Naval scene from “Hearts of Oak Society” with the member’s name, James Beckett-May 1892. The work is duly signed by secretary, in its original stained oakframe. In very good condition with good color, showing some minor discoloration and burning (acid). The piece measures 35 ½” x 26 ½” overall. The society was likely inspired by the song, “Hearts of Oak”, astandard from the early 19th century about the British Naval prowess and resolve. Est.: $600-$1,200.
