Featured in this lot is this Navajo third phase Chief's Blanket wool rug circa 1930's. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool construction that features an banded pinstripe design to the decoration set to a off white field and shows a stepped decoration towards the ends of the rug. The colors involved in this rug are medium red, black, off yellow, and dark brown shown in the bands of the decoration of this rug. The thread count is 70 threads per square inch. The condition of this Navajo Chief's blanket is good with three of the four tassels showing some missing and some partial but otherwise shows good overall condition. The measurements of this rug are 60 1/8" x 31". Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery.
