STOCK PERCUSSION RIFLE. Cal. 36. NSN. Per "American Gunsmiths" by Frank Sellers: Henry Eicholtz Leman (1812-1887) operated in Lancaster, Pennsylvania from 1834-1887 & was notable for Contract rifles & muskets using the trade name Conestoga Rifle Works. Oct. 34 3/8" bbl. has cleaned section & stamped "1842". Dovetailed base for front sight with notch rear sight; filled in dovetail approx. 4" forward of rear sight. Dbl. set triggers. Artificially striped maple stock w/ pewter nose cap & brass tipped hardwood ramrod held by 2 brass pipes. Brass furniture includes finger curl trigger guard, toeplate, crescent buttplate & patchbox. CONDITION: balance of barrel & lock have brown patina overall with heavily cleaned section on left side flat of barrel, deep pitting around lock along with marks throughout. Wood has lightly sanded & refinished appearance showing wood shrinkage around barrel tang, chip near bolster & light marks throughout. Nosecap shows solder repaired hole with cleaning. Dark pitted bore. Lock is unable to hold at full cock. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Norm Greenberg Collection. (01-27746/MD). ANTIQUE. $500-800.
