Shaped square cabinet dish with scalloped rim, the interior divided into four panels radiating from a central floral cartouche. Two opposing panels painted with Romantic “Watteau” courting couples in wooded landscapes, the other two with exuberant mixed bouquets and scattered blooms, all reserved on a rich yellow ground within gilt scroll borders. The rim with further gilt scrollwork on white. Underside with an underglaze blue crossed-swords type mark and raised footrim. German porcelain, probably a Dresden or related Saxon factory working in the Meissen manner, early 20th century. A finely decorated display piece with strong colour and lively figural scenes.
